Privacy Policy

This policy describes the Family Chores browser preview and the proposed SMS task reminder program operated by Aalto Consulting LLC. The preview does not create accounts, transmit task or phone details to Aalto Consulting LLC, or send text messages.

SMS privacy commitment: We do not share, sell, or provide mobile phone numbers or text messaging opt-in and consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Information used for SMS

The current preview saves chores, assignee labels, completion status, and demo parent approval and SMS choices in your browser’s local storage. These stay on your device until you clear this site’s browser data. A mobile number typed into the SMS form is cleared after submission and is not saved or transmitted. Do not enter sensitive information in demo chores.

When live SMS is implemented, the program is designed to use a recipient’s mobile number, their separate SMS consent choice, a record of parent approval for recipients ages 13–17, and family task details needed to compose reminders.

How information is used

The proposed program uses that information to send opted-in recipients reminders about daily chores and weekly tasks assigned by their family group, respond to HELP and STOP requests, and maintain consent and unsubscribe status. A parent’s approval for a teen does not replace that teen’s own optional SMS opt-in. The planned messages are task reminders, not marketing.

Service providers and links

The proposed program would use a messaging provider, such as Twilio, to deliver texts and process messaging preferences. Providers would receive only information needed to operate the service; mobile information and consent would not be shared with them for their marketing. A task message may contain a link supplied by a family member, such as a shared Google document. Opening an external link is subject to that destination’s privacy practices.

Message frequency and choices

Message frequency varies with assigned tasks and may include daily and weekly reminders. Message and data rates may apply. SMS enrollment is optional. Recipients can reply STOP to end texts or HELP for help, and can request help with their information at sbarnard@aaltoconsulting.com.

Data retention and updates

The current preview stores task data and demo choices only in your browser, not on a server. It does not store mobile numbers or real consent records. Before live enrollment begins, this policy must be updated to state where records are stored, how long they are kept, and how deletion requests are handled. The live process must follow the commitments above.
